    Edd ‘Frog’ Courtney

    Edd “Frog” Courtney met The Master on Nov. 24, 2020.

    Edd was born Jan. 14, 1940, to John W Courtney and Viola Brannen Courtney in Taylor County.

    He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

    A lifelong resident of Taylor County, Edd was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved his church and church family, especially AWANA. He loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandson.

    Edd was pre-deceased by: his parents; one sister, Louise Anderson; two brothers, E.G. and W.D. Courtney; and one grandson, Matthew Taylor.

    Survivors include: the love of this life, his wife of 33 years, Carolyn; one son, John Ed Courtney and wife, Katie; and three daughters, Cindy Sheffield and husband, Gary, Meschell Miller and husband, Phil, and Carol Sawyer, husband, Sam.

    Edd’s three grandsons include Daniel, Jonathan (wife, Erin) and Nicholas. Additional survivors include one granddaughter, Kayla (husband, Jarrod); one great-grandson, Jaylon; one brother John H. (Buddy); and a sister-in-law, Earline Courtney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    He enjoyed farm life, especially his cows, dogs and horses. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and fishing.

    He served in the Army and the Army Reserves for six years.

    Edd enjoyed auctioneering for Hospice benefits.

    He retired from the Taylor County Road Department with 28 years of service.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. Calvary Baptist Church with Brother Ben Kimmell and Brother Cricket Watson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., at the church.

    Burial will be held in the Courtney Family Cemetery.
