RESTORE Act to fund bypass for boat ramps?

    Posted on November 27, 2020

In what would be the largest project undertaken to date using Taylor County’s share of the federal RESTORE Act funds, the county commission has submitted an amendment to its State Expenditure Plan (SEP) to spend around $10 million to develop and construct transportation bypasses to alleviate traffic congestion around the Steinhatchee and Keaton Beach boat ramps.

The county is expected to receive $12.6 million in Pot 3 RESTORE Act funding, resulting from penalties, fines and fees assessed following the 2020 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which will be paid out over 15 years. This is in addition to the $4 million in Pot 1 funds the county is using for canal dredging projects along the coast.
