    Mae Belle Merritt

    Mae Belle Merritt, 89, passed away on Nov. 29, 2020, in Perry.

    Mae Belle was born July 29, 1931, in Perry to George H. Hunter and Belle Denmark Hunter.

    She was a member of First Baptist Church in Perry for more than 70 years and worked with the City of Perry as a secretary for 30 years.

    Mae Belle was preceded in death by: her parents, George H. Hunter and Belle Denmark Hunter; her sisters, Evelyn Hunter Steele and Ruby Hunter McDaniel; her son, Mike Giddens; and her three husbands, Clarence J. Giddens, Norris Boney and Clyde Merritt.

    Mae Belle is survived by: her children, Kathy Bodiford and Terry Knowles; her five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Steven Ruff officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m., At the funeral home.
