Thief surprised during break-in

A local homeowner caught a burglar in the act when she stepped out her back door Sunday night to take her dog for a walk and saw the suspect fleeing her storage shed with an armful of tools.

“I yelled for my husband to call 911, and the man took off running. We had police officers and deputies here right away, but they couldn’t track the suspect in the rain,” said the woman, who lives on Center Street.
