    ‘Superintelligence’ is pretty average

Melissa McCarthy has been type-casted as the loud, crass female lead in loud, crass comedies. Every once in awhile, however, she ventures outside her particular box, such as in the drama “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” and the crime thriller “The Kitchen.”

Along the way, she has partnered on several projects with her husband, Ben Falcone, who has directed four movies to this point in his career, all of which have starred McCarthy: “Tammy,” “The Boss,” “Life of the Party” and “Superintelligence.”

It is this fourth film that we’re talking about today. The movie recently made its debut on the HBO Max streaming service.

Unlike nearly every other movie McCarthy has starred in to this point, “Superintelligence” is rated PG. Aside from one muttered curse and two suggestive situations, this is about as family friendly as McCarthy has ever been.
