New gates will soon be installed at the end of the roads leading to the Steinhatchee and Blue Springs roll-off sites.
The gates, which will cost an estimated $1,000, were recommended by County Environmental Services Director Gary Wambolt.
In a memorandum to the Taylor County Commission, Wambolt said the new gates would discourage trespassing and dumping at the existing gates, while also addressing safety concerns.
“Gates will be set back from the road to allow logging trucks and roll-off trucks to be accommodated,” Wambolt said in the memo. “Gates will be appropriately marked with reflectors for visibility.”
The request for the new gates was included in the consent agenda during the commissions Monday, Nov. 2, meeting.
There was no specific discussion on any of the 11 items included on consent agenda, which was approved unanimously by the board during the meeting.
