    Fiddler Crab Festival returns

    Posted on December 7, 2020

Promising that the annual event will be “bigger and better than ever,” the Steinhatchee Chamber of Commerce has announced the 13th annual Fiddler Crab Festival is scheduled to be held on February 12-14, 2021 in Steinhatchee.

“The 13th annual Fiddler Crab Festival is a go,” Steinhatchee Chamber President Pam Wessels announced this week.

“We are working in that direction in spite of most other events being canceled,” Wessel added.

In order to provide more spacing between exhibits, the Steinhatchee Chamber announced that it is restricting the numbers of vendors.

“We will not accept new vendors this year, but instead use the space we acquire from vendors who choose to sit this one out and spaced out those who do attend so we are not so jammed up,” Wessels said.

“We are working on some other changes that we hope will help with social distancing so everyone can have a safe and enjoyable festival,” she added.
“We urge everyone to bring and wear a mask, and we will release other details as they become available,” Wessels said.

Barring any government shutdown, organizers plant to kick off the festival on Friday evening with food vendors, a beer garden and live band.

Sponsored by the Steinhatchee Chamber of Commerce and many local businesses, the annual Fiddler Crab Festival is always held President’s Day weekend, which is set for February 12-14 this coming year.

“We encourage you to make lodging reservations now, as available lodging and accommodations tend to book up quickly,” Wessels warned.

Steinhatchee’s annual Fiddler Crab Festival has become the big event for this small coastal fishing community.

From the very beginning, rain or shine, the event has attracted thousands of visitors to the riverside town located between Taylor and Dixie counties.
