New laws beginning Jan. 1 include dog race ban and additional rules on hiring employees

While this Friday, Jan. 1, will usher in the start of a much-anticipated new year, it will also bring with it a number of new laws in Florida, including a complete ban on dog racing.

Other changes coming include higher penalties for passing a stopped school bus and new requirements for employers hiring new employees
