Mr. Freddie Joseph “Joey” Kinsey, 73, of Perry passed away on Jan. 15, 2021, in Tallahassee.
Joey was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Perry to Freddie Jackson Kinsey and Helen Dixon Kinsey.
He worked his entire adult life at Buckeye. In his 39 years with the company, he held several positions and titles mainly in the digesting department, retiring in August 2004.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and farmer. Most recognized him as a quiet family man, and knew that his grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved spending time with friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
Joey was a lifelong, active member of St. Johns Christian Fellowship where he served in several different capacities such as treasurer, deacon, elder and a valued member of the worship team. He was also part of numerous volunteer efforts both for and with his church family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Freddie and Helen Kinsey; brother, Eddie Kinsey; sister, Norma Kinsey; and in-laws, Buddy and Louise Martin.
He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Beth Kinsey; three children Betsy (Ernie) Walker, Jay Kinsey and Emily (Jeremiah) O’Connor; four grandchildren, Becky, Timothy, Daniel and Mary Helen Walker; siblings, Pete (Donna) Kinsey and Carol (Arnold) Clark; and in-laws, Kathy Martin and Paul Martin; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at Carlton Cemetery with Brother Cody McNeese officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Joey Kinsey to Big Bend Hospice or Hang Tough.
