Thomas Harroll McGuire, age 72, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, in Macclenny.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
Tommy was born Dec. 19, 1948, to his parents James Dewey and Evelyn Grace McGuire at home in Taylor County.
He started working in the log woods and then married his wife, Bonnie, and moved to Macclenny and began his carrier as an over-the-road truck driver. He bought his own truck and was self-employed. After retiring from his own business, he started driving for Tim Prepp, hauling heavy equipment.
He then moved back to his hometown and worked for Shaw’s Welding as a heavy equipment operator, and later retired for health reasons.
He was pretty much a loner, but was an avid hunter. He loved gardening and loved going fishing, especially with his daughter.
He was predeceased by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Earl and Jimmy McGuire; one sister, Martha McGuire; and one daughter, Tammy McGuire.
He is survived by: his daughter, Debbie Holton of Macclenny; Jerry McGuire and Van McGuire, both of Taylor County; one sister, Mary Freeman of Taylor County; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
