‘Dogs start hot but fall to Bears 22-7

Senior cornerback/kick returner Jermaine Watkins put Taylor County on top of Dixie County 7-0 with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown just 11 seconds into the game Friday night in Cross City, but that would be the only highlight of the night for the Bulldogs in an ugly 22-7 season-opening loss to the Class 1A Bears.

That long kickoff return for a touchdown was almost more yards than the Bulldogs managed the entire game, as the Bears held Taylor County to a total of 115 yards of offense.
