The Taylor County Public Library will host a monthly Master Gardener Plant Clinic on the fourth Monday of each month, beginning on Monday, Feb. 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Presentations will include gardening topics “from Aeration to Zinnias or what you want to know about,” said UF/IFAS Taylor County Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Agent Lisa Strange.
The first plant clinic’s presentation will be: “Newbies’ Guide to Vegetable Gardening.”
“Learn what to plant, when, how and harvesting for your spring garden,” Strange said. “Take home a free ‘Vegetable Gardening Guide,’ published by the University of Florida, pre-planted veggie seeds and participate in the Plant Exchange activity (optional). Bring a plant, or anything gardening-related you want to get rid of and take home something new. Growing your own food is safer, saves you money and proven to be a good exercise for your body and mind.”
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and CDC guidelines will be met with masks and social distancing required. For more information, contact the Taylor Count Extension office at (850) 838-3508.
The library is located at 403 N. Washington St. in Perry.
In addition to the clinics in Perry, monthly events will also be held on the second Monday of each month at the Lafayette County Library, located at 120 NE Crawford St. in Mayo. Visit Lafayette County Library’s website for more information.
