    From Perry to the Pentagon

Robert Ellis II was born into a family of educators: his mother, Alyce Watkins, and grandmother, Essie Mae Henderson, were both teachers.

Whether he was walking the halls of Perry Primary or the Pentagon, Robert Ellis II carries the traits instilled in him by fellow Taylor Countians, molded by caring hands of those who guided him during his youth.

At just 15, Ellis spent his days longingly gazing at a poster of a red Porsche 911 on his bedroom wall.

He credits the guidance of local leaders and mentors like Thomas Demps Sr., Lawrence Hughes, Jack Scott, Jimmy and Alyce Watkins, Essie Mae Henderson and Girardeau Henderson for helping him achieve that goal — albeit a white Porsche Cayenne.
