    Posted on February 19, 2021

Liz Newman is pictured with her first-place swine “Hoss” and her Grand Champion belt buckle.

Taylor County 4-H made history this week at the North Florida Livestock Show & Sale, as Liz Newman and her pig “Hoss” earned Grand Champion Swine honors – making Liz the first Taylor County youth and first female to win the coveted title in the swine category.

With her first place showing in the swine division at this year’s show — Taylor County’s first Grand Champion finish in the swine division since 1955 — Newman joins a short list of previous Grand Champion and Reserve Champion winners from Taylor County (see graph) to win a buckle at the annual event.
