Commission may consider change for small mud bogs

Although the Taylor County Commission does not appear willing to change the county’s mud bog ordinance to satisfy a request from the owners of Iron Horse Mud Ranch, they did seem more open to consider an unrelated change to make it easier to hold small scale events with less than 200 people.

Although the issues surrounding Iron Horse Mud Ranch and its events dominated most of an hour-plus discussion held during the commission’s workshop Tuesday (see related story), John Knight, who holds several smaller mud bog events in the county each year, approached the board to ask for a modification to the ordinance regarding the requirement to secure insurance at events hosting 200 people or less.
