Heavy rains and a lift station pump malfunction resulted in the local Georgia-Pacific (GP) Foley Mill temporarily halting production last Friday to address a wastewater release into the Fenholloway River.
“During a significant rain event, our lift station pump malfunctioned, causing the mill to discharge storm water and process water directly to the Fenholloway River on Feb. 19 at 2:30 a.m.,” GP Foley Public Affairs Manager Scott Mixon stated.
