    COVID vaccine age drops again

    Posted on March 26, 2021

Taylor County residents age 40 and over are eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine through the local health department beginning Monday, March 29, with vaccinations opening up to all residents age 18 or older the following Monday, April 5.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the age extension on March 25, making the vaccine widely available to adults of all ages nearly one month earlier than previously expected.

On March 22, DeSantis made vaccines available to those 50 and older, dropping the age requirements down from 60 due to a “relatively modest” demand.

He anticipated coronavirus vaccines being available to all Floridians by May 1.

The first vaccination clinic available to those 40 and older will be Friday, April 2, at Forest Capital Hall. To make a vaccination appointment with DOH-Taylor, call (850) 584-5087.

Vaccines are also available by appointment only at the local CVS, located at 105 W. Hampton Springs Avenue, as well as Winn Dixie, located at 2057 S. Byron Butler Parkway, both in Perry.
