Courts back in session

Taylor County held its first jury trial in more than a year this week, although the proceedings had a slightly different look than before the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak began.

The misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) case, which stemmed from a traffic stop last June, ended soon after the state rested its case when the judge accepted a plea change submitted by the defendant after he reached an agreement with the state attorney’s office.
