    City gas bill shocker due to ‘polar vortex’

    City of Perry businesses and residents may experience a shock when they open their utility bills this coming month, after extreme cold weather in parts of the country caused a spike in natural gas prices.

    During a seven-day period in February, extreme cold weather in Oklahoma and Texas, caused by a southern migration of the polar vortex, led to high natural gas demand in parts of the country, disruptions in oil and gas production and record-high natural gas prices.
