    Michael E. Camp, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 27, 2021, in Perry.

    Mike was born Sept. 14, 1952, in Albertville, Ala. to Clifton Camp and Kathleen Edwards Camp.

    Mr. Camp was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Perry.

    He was a dedicated husband and father, who lived by putting God first. He was an exceptional grandfather; caring for and loving on each of his grandchildren.

    Mike worked as a project manager with Buckeye Cellulose for more than 30 years, retiring in 2013.

    In his spare time, Mike’s passion was being on the water, bass fishing.

    He was blessed with artistic talents, mastering the art of ink illustration. He enjoyed the outdoors, running, and working to improve his boat and truck.

    Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Kathleen Camp.

    Mr. Camp is survived by: his wife of 50 years Mary T. Camp; his daughters, Carrie Bevis and Allison (Charles) Finley; five grandchildren, Wade Holton, Landon Byrd, Cambron Byrd, Caden Finley and Avery Finley; his brother Perry (Jay’ne) Camp; and sister, Sharon Alexander; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    A celebration of Mike’s life was held on Tuesday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry with Allison Finley, Gary Weathers, Allison Stoyer and Pastor Steven Ruff officiating.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Youth Department. COVID guidelines will be followed; please be prepared to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

    All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
