Godzilla and King Kong may save the blockbuster season after all

Last week, I spoke at length about how the fate of the summer blockbuster season very well could depend on how “Godzilla vs Kong” did in its opening weekend.

Well, the film did quite well, earning a total of $48.5 million over its first five days (Wednesday through Sunday), including $32.2 million during the three-day Easter weekend itself. This is easily the best a film has done during the COVID-19 era.
