‘Godzilla vs Kong’ is a lot of fun, but be sure to turn your brain off

In my review for 2014’s “Godzilla,” I ended with the following statement: “Could it have been better? Sure. But, is it fun anyway? Certainly.”

Harkening back to my review of 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” I said, “Could it have been better? Sure. But is it fun anyway? Certainly.”

Well, now we have “Godzilla vs Kong,” drawing in Godzilla as well as King Kong, who was introduced into this particular cinematic universe in 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island.”

And, my thoughts on this new film? Fun? Check. Could it have been better? Check.

The film is available both in movie theaters, as well as on the HBO Max streaming service. I chose to go see it in a theater, and the giant monster action is a lot of fun on the big screen. This is only the second major big-budget film I’ve seen in a movie theater in the past year (the other being “Tenet”), and I have certainly missed the experience.
