Faced with a roomful of concerned neighboring property owners, the Perry City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to deny a zoning request change that would have allowed Temple of God Baptist Church to operate a 12-bed assisted living facility (ALF) at its property located at the corner of Sandra Street and Highway 98 West.
This is the first time in recent memory the council has gone against the recommendation of its Planning & Zoning Board, which approved the church’s land use change request at its Jan. 7 meeting.
