    City council split over spending reserves

    In a split vote that highlighted a council divided over concerns about continuing to dip into dwindling cash reserves for non-budgeted items, the City of Perry recently voted to move forward with purchasing an estimated $60,000 in replacement playground equipment at a local park.

    “All I can say is, ‘Lord help us,” Mayor Alan Hall said following the city council’s 3-2 vote to pull an estimated $60,000 from the city’s savings to fund two new pieces of playground equipment at Gerald B. Walker Park (formerly Jerkins Park) located on Warner Avenue.
