    Tedder’s journey: from the banks of the Econfina to the shores of Normandy

    World War II veteran Norman Leroy Tedder was among the soldiers who stormed the beach at Normandy that fateful day 77 years ago – D-Day – June 6, 1944.

    Norman Leroy Tedder Sr. (far left) is shown with a group of soldiers he served with overseas during World War II. He was 21 when he joined the Army, and was among the thousands of soldiers who stormed the beach during the D-Day invasion.

    While he had a front row seat to history, he rarely shared his role in the battle with family and friends.
