Charles “Chuck” Wayne Flores, 75, passed away on June 18, 2021, at his home in Perry with his family by his side.
Chuck was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Perry to Rosalio Caldren Flores and Edna Parker Flores.
Mr. Flores was of the Christian faith and was a member of Evangel Christian Fellowship.
Chuck was a longtime shipping coordinator with Buckeye Cellulose Mill, retiring in 1992.
He volunteered with the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) here in Perry.
He is fondly remembered for being a Taylor County football superstar, being one of the first to be recruited by the Florida State University (FSU) Seminoles. He played softball for several years for travel teams and church teams. Other hobbies he enjoyed doing was hunting and fishing, and singing in his gospel group.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalio and Edna P. Flores, and his sister, Sharon Woodall.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 23 years, Susan Flores; his children, Kyle Flores, Todd Flores, Brad Flores, Thomas Gober, Keith (Kellie) Gober, Bella (Ethan) Cooper and Amber Gober; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Brother Justin Webb officiating. Interment services followed in Boyd Cemetery. The family received friends hour prior to the service.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
