Quench your thirst & support Habitat for Humanity today!

Taylor County Habitat for Humanity has announced plans for two fundraisers slated today (Friday, July 2) and Saturday, July 10, according to Habitat Executive Director Karol Newport Barr.

A lemonade stand featuring children of Habitat board members is planned today at Save-a-Lot on South Jefferson Street from 4-7 p.m.

Homemade lemonade and baked goods provided by local bakeries and members of the Habitat Board of Directors will be offered for donations.

The organization will hold a yard sale featuring regular and vintage items at their 1409 South Jefferson Street location on Saturday, July 10, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Items to be offered in the sale include furniture, vintage crystal and silver, dinnerware sets, as well as a large variety of household items and other goods which have been donated to the local charity to use in raising funds to support their operation, Barr said.

The local Habitat organization provides sustainable housing for families who do not qualify for conventional mortgages.

Currently Habitat is working on a home in Steinhatchee.

“Our progress has been hampered by the increasing cost of building materials,” Barr said.

“These are just a few of many activities planned in the near future in the effort to raise money so we can continue our operations,” she said.

In addition to building homes, Habitat assists local homeowners in making repairs when they have no money or family to help with those repairs.

“We accept donations for yard sales every other Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.,” Barr said.

In July, this includes July 2, 16 and 30.
