    Morris J. “PG” Scott

    Morris J. “PG” Scott, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 28, 2021, at his home in Perry surrounded by family.

    He was born on Nov. 17, 1932, to James and Nancy Scott.

    He was active for many years at Pisgah Baptist Church and later moved to Southside Baptist Church, where he was a long-time Sunday school teacher, a faithful member of the choir and chairman of Building and Grounds Committee.

    He worked for Procter & Gamble for more than 38 years. He was active duty with the Army in Korea for two years.

    In 1957, he helped organize the Army Reserve Center in Perry and was active with the Reserve until 1984. He went on active duty in Gainesville, Ga., where he remained until his retirement from the military in 1992.

    PG was also active in the Gideon ministry, holding the position of Memorial Bible Chairman.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Nancy Scott; a son, Todd Scott; a sister, Molly Scott; his sisters, Pauline Lundy and Vertice Farmer, both of Perry; a sister, LessiVee Skipper of Louisiana; and a brother, Bud Scott, of Dunnellon.

    He is survived by: his wife of almost 40 years, Patricia Walker Scott; a daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Jamie Lee; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kali Scott; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Annie Scott; a son and daughter-in-law, Ty and Lisa Scott; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a loving mother-in-law, Hilda Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, at Southside Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Brother Gary French and Brother David McMullen will officiate. Interment services will at Pisgah Cemetery.

    Family will receive friends today (Friday) from 6-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home.
