Elsa delivers direct hit

Despite taking a direct hit from Tropical Storm Elsa just after 11 a.m. Wednesday, Taylor County residents and businesses were spared any significant damage from the former hurricane.

After being projected to hit around Cedar Key as a Category 1 hurricane, Elsa wobbled slightly to the west and north early Wednesday morning before moving ashore as a tropical storm between Steinhatchee and Dekle Beach with winds up to 41 mph.
