Thanks to rising property values and an increase in state revenue, the Taylor County Commission started its 2021-22 budget process this week looking at surpluses in both of its primary funds — even after budgeting $1 per hour raises for most county employees.
According to figures from Taylor County Property Appraiser Shawna Beach, the county’s gross taxable value is projected to increase $81.5 million this year to a total of $1.6 billion, a jump of 5.28%.
