Debris fire gets out of control

Taylor County Fire Rescue (TCFR) and City of Perry firefighters quickly contained a small fire at a derelict property located at 3970 Lonnie E. Wilson Road around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The structure caught fire when a former resident attempted to burn debris in the yard.

“The mobile home on the property had burned in the past. It was damaged beyond repair, so he was not living there. He was trying to get rid of the burnt house and debris by burning it off in small chunks,” TCFR Chief Dan Cassel said.
