Melissa Nicole Connell

Melissa Nicole Connell, 29, of Irons, Mich., formerly of Shady Grove, passed away on Wednesday July 7, 2021, in Manistee County, Mich., as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1991, in Tallahassee, the daughter of Jamie and Mary (Armstrong) Goans.

Melissa is survived by: four sons, Jackson, James, Jesse and Jerry, all of Irons, Mich.; her parents, Mary (Travis) Goans of Topeka, Ind., and Jamie (Lillie) Connell of Shady Grove; a sister, Leah (Alvin Rocco) Armstrong of Perry; a brother, Kolby Connell of Shady Grove; and a niece, Grace Rocco’ as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirl Clark.

Melissa loved her children more than anything and was a devoted mother. She enjoyed shooting and always had her sidearm.

Melissa also enjoyed kayaking, riding her ATV and anything outdoors. She will be greatly missed.

A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier.

A celebration of Melissa’s life will be held in Florida at a later date.
