    Above-normal rainfall floods part of county

    Standing water continues to plague many homeowners throughout the county, which has received more than 20 inches of rain in the past two months.

    Almost 60 days into Florida’s “monsoon months,” much of southern Taylor County is currently covered in standing water after receiving more than 20 inches of rain during June and July, with even more expected in August.

    According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 20 inches of rainfall was observed in the Steinhatchee area of Taylor County from June 21 through July 21 — roughly eight inches above average from previous years.
