Andrew Marshall Hicks, 86, passed away on July 22, 2021.He was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Perry to Tyson Thathel Hicks and Louise Vickery Hicks.Marshall honorably served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He was a Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. Marshall owned and operated Hicks Feed & Garden Center and Hicks Tax Service of Perry for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Perry Kiwanis Club, Perry Elks Lodge and Perry Golf and Country Club. Marshall supported his local community and served as a former board member for Doctors’ Memorial Hospital, Citizens Bank of Perry, the Taylor Senior Center and as a Taylor County commissioner.He loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. Marshall was also a huge football fan and showed his support as a “Super Dog” booster for the Taylor County Bulldogs and as a Silver Chief booster for Florida State University.He was preceded in death by: his wife of 34 years Billie Sue Hicks; his parents, Tyson and Louise Hicks; and two sisters, Carolyn Winburn and Betty Hicks.He is survived by: his daughters, Marsha Taylor and her husband, Glenn, and Andrea Williamson and her husband, Billy; five grandchildren, Drew Taylor (Randi), Sara Vinson (Jason), Magan Williamson, Alisha Williamson and Toni Watson (Louis); 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Tyson Hicks; and sister, Polly Hodges; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Lundy officiating. Interment services followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
