Melanie Gay Williams

Melanie Gay Williams, 60, passed away on Aug. 2, 2021, in Perry.

She was born Sept. 7, 1960, in Perry to Robin Williams and Arliss Allen Williams.

Melanie was a Baptist. She graduated from Florida State University (FSU) in 2006 with her bachelor’s degree and taught kindergarten at Perry Primary School. She worked for the Taylor County School District for more than 20 years.

She enjoyed spending time at the beach and being with her grandchildren.

Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, Robin and Arliss Williams.

She is survived by: three children, Jessica (Kianna) Edwards, Kaci Edwards and Damion Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jayden Reid, Marley and Tinsley;  and three siblings, Larry Williams, Dannie Williams and Robbie Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, backpacks and school supplies may be donated to Taylor County Primary School.

All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
