The Taylor County School District, following the recommendation of local public health department officials, will not allow parents to walk their children into school when the new year starts Wednesday, Aug. 11.
“We had hoped to allow parents to walk their (young) children to their classrooms, but the health department said that with the rise in COVID cases, we need to limit the number of visitors to our schools. If we open up and everybody comes in, then we are running the risk of exposing our students and staff. Worst case scenario, if people become sick, we would have to shut schools down,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover Jr. said.
