Willie Erie Johnson, 96, demised on Aug. 1, 2021, at Lafayette Health Care Center.
She was born July 19, 1925, in Tift County, Ga., where she attended school.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was a loyal member of New Brooklyn Church for more than 50 years where she served as an exemplary usher. She was also the co-founder of installing heat and air in New Brooklyn Church in 1975.
She served with other ushers at funerals, countywide Women’s Day worship services, the Taylor County Union and the First Bethlehem Association Women’s Department.
She was a die-hard Democrat. For many years, she walked the streets of Perry registering and recruiting individuals to vote.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, Mary Gant, Willie James (Kathleen) Dennis, Helen Kimble, Kenneth (Carmen) Dennis, Cebrum (Annette) Watkins Jr. and Tony Watkins; daughter in-law, Santee Dennis; siblings, Carolyn Glenn and Lessie Gent; sister in-law, Alyce Watkins; 20 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren; along with loving nieces, nephews, cousins, her New Brooklyn church family and many special friends.
Graveside funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. At Springhill Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
For the safety of everyone who attends the funeral, a face mask is required.
