Dixie County prison evacuated

Approximately 1,500 inmates have been temporarily relocated to the Taylor Correctional Institution Annex and the Lancaster Correctional Institution after the Cross City institution where they were housed flooded due to localized rainfall last week.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC), the displaced inmates will remain at the Taylor Annex and Lancaster institution until Cross City Correctional Institution damages are assessed and the facility is determined to be safe.
