Thomas A. “Tom” Davis, 71, passed away on Aug. 14, 2021 in Tavares.
He was born Feb. 27, 1950, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to William Sam Davis Jr. and Kathleen Ringer Davis.
Tom honorably served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea with the 7th Infantry Division.
He was a Christian and a Baptist. Tom worked with the Florida Department of Corrections as a corrections officer in Mayo.
Tom was preceded in death by: his wife, Kathie Knowles Davis; his parents, William Sam Davis Jr. and Kathleen Ringer Davis; his brother, Robert (Bob) Ryan Davis; his sister, Sara Davis; and his canine companions, Sandy and Ranger.
He is survived by: his daughter, Joy Padgett and her husband, Marlon, of Mayo; his siblings, William (Bill) Sam Davis III and his wife, Camille, of Tallahassee, and Kathy Wiles and her husband, Dennis, of Perry; his sister-in-law, Dianne Davis of Tallahassee; his grandchildren, Ashley and Chandler Padgett of Mayo, and Christopher (Courtney) Padgett of Gainesville; his great-grandchildren, Maydin and Malani of Gainesville, and Bryson, Caylin and Westen of Mayo; his nephews, John (Angie) Davis and daughter, Dakota, of Tallahassee, and Michael Wiles of Perry; and a host of cousins and other family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with the Rev. Bill Jenkins and Brother David McMullen officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Family will also receive friends at the Wiles home at 2637 Slaughter Rd. in Perry.
