Woodrow Calvin Blue, 80, passed away at North Florida Regional Medical Center on Aug. 13, 2021. Calvin was born in Thomasville, Ga., at Archibald Memorial Hospital on Dec. 20, 1940, to Woodrow Blue and Sibyl Kirkland Blue.
After high school, Calvin honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Sea Bees.
He was a long-time member of Alton Church of God and also attended Midway Baptist Church (Mayo).
After his military service, he worked at Sportcraft before working with Buckeye Cellulose. Calvin worked at Buckeye for 27 years before retiring in 1996.
In his spare time, Calvin loved fishing on the Suwanee River, hunting, carpentry, gardening and spending time with family.
Calvin was preceded in death by: his parents, Woodrow and Sybil Blue; his wife of 43 years, Irma Odom Blue; his brother, Charles Wesley Blue; son, John Blackshear; and most recently, his wife of four years, Jettie Ruth Walker Blue.
He is survived by: his son, Jayson (Helen) Blue; stepsons, Don Blackshear, Tim (Rhonda) Walker and Scott (Heather) Walker; daughter-in-law, Tracey Blackshear; one brother, Ralph (Dahlia) Blue; sister-in-law, Robin Blue; and grandchildren, Jayson Colby Blue, Ethan Blackshear, Eli Blackshear, Brandon Blackshear, Bradley Blackshear and Chloe Blackshear; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
In keeping with Calvin’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
