Free COVID tests

Dozens of people waited to be tested for coronavirus Tuesday morning — some for more than an hour — as a line of more than 50 vehicles snaked around the old hospital before spilling into the Premier Medical parking lot and down Ash Street.

In partnership with Nomi Health, the Department of Health-Taylor (DOH-Taylor) began offering free drive-thru COVID-19 testing to anyone one year of age or older at 1215 N. Peacock Avenue on Tuesday, Aug. 24. This service will be offered at the same location seven days per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Those seeking testing are asked to enter the drive-thru line from the Center Street entrance to the old hospital. No appointment is necessary.
