    Evelyn Blanton Blue Stephens

    Evelyn Blanton Blue Stephens, 90, passed away on Aug. 22, 2021, in Mayo.

    She was born March 27, 1931, in Madison County to Grover Cleveland Blanton and Farie English Blanton.

    Mrs. Stephens was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a charter member of Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

    Evelyn worked in multiple industries before becoming a lifelong homemaker, helping to raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

    In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

    She was devoted wife, a loving mother, and adored her grandchildren, and she loved spending time with each of them.

    Evelyn was preceded in death by: husbands, Lloyd Paul Blue Sr. and Lamar Lee Stephens Sr.; her parents, Grover and Farie Blanton; her son, Lloyd Paul “BoBo” Blue Jr.; a grandson, Jamey Shiver; her brothers, Elder Evan Blanton, Elder Junior Blanton and Audrey Blanton; her sister, Jewel Tyson; and her son-in-law, Dr. Luis A. Roca Sr.

    Mrs. Evelyn is survived by: her children, Pauline (Ted) Blue-Shiver, Julian (Christy) Blue and Julia Blue-Roca; her sister, Myrtle Watts; her brother, Almon Blanton; five grandchildren, Karie Beth Blue, Keith Shiver, Matt Blue, Paul Blue and Luis Roca Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Danielle, Trey, Allie, Callie and Britton; and three great-great-grandchildren, Braydon, Mason and Azduhlynn; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Gary Blanton officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

    Donations to Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church will be appreciated in lieu of flowers. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
