    Vincent Douglas Whitt

    Vincent Douglas Whitt, 56, passed away on Aug. 26, 2021, at his residence in Perry.

    He was born July 19, 1965, in Plant City to Vince Whitt and Cathy Chancey Whitt.

    Doug was a Baptist and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

    He worked as a truck driver for more than 20 years before he retired from the Florida Department of Corrections.

    He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing was some of his favorite things to do.

    Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.W. and Willie Mae Whitt, and Beatrice Douglas.

    He is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Melissa Whitt; his daughter, Brittany Whitt; his parents, Vince and Cathy Whitt; brother, Glenn Whitt; sister, Deborah Barry; and granddaughter, Lilith Brumbaugh; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    A celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Brother Billy Gipson officiating.  All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
