MCU delivers a fantasy martial arts adventure in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but it never fails to amaze me that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has expanded so successfully that a franchise which began with a guy building a metal suit in a cave from a bunch of scraps can now include alternate dimensions filled with fantastical creatures — and I don’t even blink in surprise.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is the much-anticipated 25th film in the MCU and introduces the world to its newest superhero, Shang-Chi (Simu Liu, “Kim’s Convenience”).

Although I enjoyed “Black Widow,” which hit theaters back in July, I will admit it was not a first-tier MCU film. However, if that one left you discouraged about the future of the MCU, let those worries go, because “Shang-Chi” is top-notch entertainment, absolutely living up to the promise of being a fantasy martial arts film set within the MCU.
