    ‘He set the standard for local newspapers’

    Donald D. “Don” Lincoln served as publisher of the TaCo Times and Perry News-Herald for 33 years before retiring in 2017.

    Longtime Perry Newspapers’ publisher Donald D. “Don” Lincoln, who died Sept. 9, started his career in the news business “from the bottom up,” helping his older brother with his newspaper delivery route when he was just a young boy.

    After graduating from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he progressed to the newsroom and advertising sales, working at newspapers in Alabama, Georgia and in Live Oak before moving to Perry in 1984.
