    Annetta Jane ‘Anne’ Burch

    Annetta Jane “Anne” Burch died Aug. 10, 2021, at her home in Gainesville. She was 74 years old. Anne was born in Valdosta, Ga., on Feb. 10, 1947. She was the daughter of J. Louie and Lucille Burch. She grew up in Perry and graduated from Taylor County High School. Anne was employed for several years by the State of Florida as an administrative assistant in Tallahassee. She moved to Miami Beach to work with the Florida Citrus Growers organization in public relations/administration. When she moved to Homosassa Springs, writing and PR work in Citrus County became her career. Anne was president of the National League of American Pen Women (Nature Coast Branch Florida WWII Memorial Committee; a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for two-year colleges; was awarded the Florida Commission on the Status of Women “Outstanding Achievement Award;” and received a personal note from then-President Bush which read, “Thanks for your great help on my campaign in Florida.” She moved to Gainesville to continue her education in PR studies at Santa Fe College. She was a lifelong Gator fan, loved writing, boating and fishing. Anne was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. Until a few days before her death, she used Facebook to share God’s Word and blessings daily. She is survived by: her sister, Sandra Jean Burch Allen; nephews, Robert Burch Allen (Roswell, Ga.) and William Edward Allen (Mobile, Ala.); niece-in-law, Sondra; and grandniece, Makayla Allen (Tallahassee); Fred Webb (Ocala); and several other cousins. According to her wishes, she will be buried privately in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry.); worked with the county Code Enforcement Board; was chairman of the Citrus County Ad Hoc.
