    Mary Christmas Asher

    Mary Christmas Asher, 58, passed away on Sept. 8, 2021, at her home in Perry, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 11, 1962, in Auburndale to Chamilas Hudson Christmas and Blondell Rogers Christmas. Mrs. Asher was a Baptist and attended Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship. She worked in many roles for the Taylor County School District for more than 35 years, from driving school buses to being a teacher’s aide to being an instructor. She was a country girl at heart who loved the outdoors, as she enjoyed fishing, hunting, scalloping and just being in the woods and running dogs. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Chamilas Hudson and Blondell Rogers Christmas. She is survived by: her husband of 44 years, Jeff Asher; her daughter, Misty (Joe) Braidich; her son, Thomas “T.J.” Lee; her sister, Linda (Gerald) Thornton; brother, James Christmas; niece, Nicole (Ashley) Mock; great-nephew, Ty Daniel Mock; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Brown; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many other extended family to whom she is affectionately known as Gran. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship with Brother Eddie Pridgeon officiating. Interment services followed in Sandhill Cemetery.
