    Joseph Lamar Deal

    Joseph Lamar Deal, 65, passed away on Sept. 12, 2021 in Live Oak. Joe was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Perry to parents Morris Newton Deal and Martha Walters Deal. Joe was born with his twin brother, Jim. Jim has always claimed Joe kicked him out first to set the stage for his surprise arrival. Joe was of the Christian faith. He worked with E.M. Watkins as a painter and iron worker during his younger days. He lead the Watkins crew in Barnesville, Ga., before returning to Perry where he worked with Buckeye until his retirement. Joe enjoyed f ishing, hunting and Gator football in his spare time. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Morris Newton Deal and Martha Walters Deal; and his sisters, Ann Deal, Juanita Deal Cassidy (Danie) and Lynette Deal Ratliff (Randy). Joe is survived by: his twin brother, Jim Deal (Myong); brother, Charlie Deal; son, George Houck (Christi); daughter, Sonya Dickerson (Tim); and former spouse, Vonnie Fortner; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered with family and friends in attendance. Beggs Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.
