Cross City Correction Institution still closed

A month after being evacuated due to flooding, Cross City Correctional Institution inmates and staff remain at Taylor Correctional Institution (TCI), as the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has not yet deemed the flooded institution safe for re-opening.

Approximately 1,500 inmates and an undisclosed number of staff were evacuated from Cross City CI on Aug. 7 after localized torrential rains left the institution underwater.
