City of Perry customers who use water, sewer, gas and garbage pick-up services can expect to pay an estimated $240 more per year for water, sewer, gas and garbage pick-up after the city council voted 3-2 in favor of a tentative 2020-21 budget that includes an increase of up to $20 per month in base utility rates.
At the first of two final public hearings on the budget held on Sept. 14, the city council tentatively approved a budget that balances a $1.1 million shortfall by slashing proposed expenditures by $500,000 and raising nearly $600,000 in new revenue by increasing utility rates $20.09 per month for the average customer.
